I was recently invited by the Law Society attendee of the National Digital Practitioners’ Working Group to present at their Criminal Law Society Committee meeting on 7 November in relation to the Common Platform and the Modernisation of the Criminal Justice System.

At the meeting I promised to share the slides I used with those in the room, but thought the presentation would also be of interest to many of our Inside HMCTS blog readers. See the presentation below:

The programme of transforming the Justice System is clearly an ambitious one, just 6 years to transform all jurisdictions into a modern service. We want it to offer the best experience it can for those citizens it serves and this makes it all the more important that we have the right people involved from the start to help shape it.

One of the attendees shared his concerns about defendant’s rights if their hearing is to be a virtual hearing. The project team who is researching virtual hearings, now have his details so his real life experiences of ‘video enabled justice’ in Kent can be used to inform their research.

I’ll continue to keep you informed of our research and next steps using this blog. If you have any questions on my presentation slides please use the comments facility at the bottom of this page or email me direct.

Amddiffyn Digidol - Pwyllgor Cyfraith Droseddol Cymdeithas y Cyfreithwyr 7 Tachwedd 2016

Yn ddiweddar, cefais wahoddiad gan gynrychiolydd Cymdeithas y Cyfreithwyr a fynychodd Gweithgor Cenedlaethol yr Ymarferwyr Digidol i roi cyflwyniad yn eu cyfarfod Pwyllgor Cyfraith Droseddol ar 7 Tachwedd, ynglŷn â'r Platfform Cyffredin a'r broses o Foderneiddio'r System Cyfiawnder Troseddol.

Yn y cyfarfod fe addewais i rannu’r sleidiau a ddefnyddiais gyda’r rhai a oedd yn yr ystafell, ond meddyliais y byddai’r cyflwyniad hefyd o ddiddordeb i lawer o bobl sy'n darllen ein blog 'Inside HMCTS'. Gweler y cyflwyniad isod:

Mae’r rhaglen i drawsnewid y System Gyfiawnder yn amlwg yn un uchelgeisiol, gyda dim ond chwe blynedd i drawsnewid pob awdurdodaeth i wasanaeth modern. Rydym am iddo gynnig y profiad gorau bosib i’r dinasyddion y mae’n eu gwasanaethu ac mae hyn yn golygu ei fod yn bwysicach fyth bod gennym y bobl iawn yn chwarae eu rhan o’r cychwyn i helpu i’w lunio.

Rhannodd un o’r mynychwyr ei bryderon ynghylch hawliau’r diffynnydd os yw eu gwrandawiad yn wrandawiad rhith. Erbyn hyn, mae gan dîm y prosiect sy’n ymchwilio i wrandawiadau rhith ei fanylion, fel y gellir defnyddio ei brofiadau bywyd go iawn o 'alluogi cyfiawnder trwy fideo' yng Nghaint i lywio eu gwaith ymchwil.

Byddaf yn parhau i roi gwybod ichi am ein gwaith ymchwil a’r camau nesaf drwy ddefnyddio’r blog hwn. Os oes gennych unrhyw gwestiynau mewn perthynas â fy nghyflwyniad, defnyddiwch y cyfleuster ar gyfer gwneud sylwadau ar waelod y dudalen hon neu anfonwch e-bost ataf os gwelwch yn dda.
